The Children’s BookFest, a  free family-oriented program, is the kick-off for Broward County Library’s Summer Learning Program. This fun and whimsical day started in 2005 and usually takes place in late-May or early-June at a regional library in Broward County. Children's BookFest showcases the annual theme of the Summer Learning Program so Broward County residents will know what to expect from the summer's catalog of programs.

Each year, the event features book giveaways, storytelling, performers, arts and crafts, face painting, STEAM activities, and drawings to win exciting prizes. The library expects about 3,000 children in attendance each year in a variety of costumes and dress up options.

The 2026 Children's BookFest is presented through collaborations and partnerships with many community partners and is generously funded by The Broward Public Library Foundation, Panera Bread, The Friends of the West Regional Library, Children’s Services Council of Broward County, and The City of Plantation.
