The Children’s BookFest, a  free family-oriented program, is the kick-off for Broward County Library’s Summer Learning Program. This fun and whimsical day started in 2005 and usually takes place in late-May or early-June at a regional library in North Broward. Children's BookFest showcases the annual theme of the Summer Learning Program so Broward County residents will know what to expect from the summer's catalog of programs.

Each year, the event features book giveaways, storytelling, performers, arts and crafts, face painting, STEM activities, and drawings to win exciting prizes. The library expects about 3,000 children in attendance each year in a variety of costumes and dress up options.

Along with the Library Foundation, Children's BookFest is sponsored by The Friends of the Northwest Regional Library and The Stephanie Rubin Memorial Fund.
