Literary Feast Returns As In-Person Event

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Broward Public Library Foundation announced that A Night of Literary Feasts will return to its original in-person format. Though a scaled down event, the Library Foundation plans to host 8-10 authors for its 300 attendees to meet and dine with. The event will take place on Saturday, October 16, 2021. The Welcome Reception will be hosted in the Commodore Ballroom of Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale Beach (801 Seabreeze Blvd), followed by dinners hosted privately in the Fort Lauderdale area. The Presenting Sponsor is the Helen Ingham Foundation and the Welcome Reception Sponsor is JM Family.

The Library Foundation also plans to host its popular panel discussion, LitLIVE!, on Friday, October 15, 2021 at participating Barnes & Noble locations. This event will be open to the public and books will be sold and signed following the discussion.

For all author and dinner announcements, sign up for the Foundation’s newsletter at bplfoundation.org and follow the Foundation on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

About Literary Feast

Established in 1988, Literary Feast has raised more than $4 million in support of Broward County Library literacy programs and services that enrich the entire community. Selected sponsorships are still available.

About the Broward Public Library Foundation and Broward County Library

Founded in 1982, the nonprofit Broward Public Library Foundation raises private dollars for the Broward County Library system, which is the largest library system in Florida by square footage and one of the busiest, with more than 7.5 million walk-in customers visiting its 38 locations annually. Countless others access a wealth of free resources using digital e-technology. Through the generosity of its donors, the Broward Public Library Foundation is able to underwrite numerous programs and events that complement those already funded by Broward County tax dollars, such as SAT/ACT prep classes for high school students, the Summer Learning Program and the annual Books 'n' Bears at the Holidays program for preschool children.

The Broward Public Library Foundation has the pleasure of working with the family of the late Isabel & Stanley Rubel to create this endowment fund in their memory. Their three sons Howard, Matthew and Laurence recall their parents' love of mystery novels, which brought them into the Pompano Beach Library regularly. In the creation of the fund, Howard Rubel expressed how his parents “had great vision to see the possibilities of Pompano Beach” and that the family is “delighted to give back to a community that Isabel and Stanley joined over 65 years ago.”
